locu.ms exists to fix locum tenens pay opacity: clinicians rarely know the true market rate, and that information asymmetry favors agencies and facilities. The rate index is built only from clinician-reported ACTUAL pay (not advertised job-posting rates), verified against the national NPI registry, and aggregated behind a cohort privacy floor so no individual rate is ever exposed. Hourly, daily, and per-shift rates are never blended together.
